Virtual Trail ANgels

If you would like to become a virtual trail angel for Patchwork Canteen’s Pacific Crest Trail hike, browse this page to learn more about their Film Trade, Accommodation Fund, or their Resupply Boxes. Your support directly impacts two passionate explorers and allows them to focus on their art and the journey ahead.

Resupply Boxes

Ideally, thru-hikers should be consuming at least 4,000 calories per day to maintain body weight. They also have to be conscious of the nutrition to weight ratio of their resupplies. Patchwork Canteen expects to have around 30 resupply boxes and/or stops along the PCT. With consideration of location, prices, and past hiker’s reports, this duo estimates their daily food cost will be around $40, making their average resupply around $200. This area of their hike will require the largest budget allotment and also represents their greatest need.

Below is a PayPal button that will allow you to donate any desired amount towards Caleb and Madelyn’s resupply costs (cards are accepted even if you don’t have a PayPal account). All donors will be honored on the Patchwork’s Angels list and sent a personal postcard from a trail town.

Accomodation

As a thru-hiker, being able to shower and sleep in a real bed are rare commodities that feel more like luxuries. For budget hikers, it is truly a luxury to be clean and rested. Patchwork is graciously accepting donations towards their Accommodation Fund to be used for room and board along their PCT hike. All donors will be honored on the Patchwork’s Angels list and sent a personal postcard from a trail town.

Film Trade

Patchwork Canteen is documenting the Pacific Crest Trail on 35mm film and they want you to be involved with this aspect of their hike. They are accepting any unused 35mm rolls, expired rolls are also welcome.

Please fill out the following form and instructions will be emailed to you. All contributions will be credited under the Patchwork’s Angels list and, upon their completion of the trail, each donor will receive a signed print.

Join Patchwork’s Angels today!

Trail angels are a vital and appreciated part of the long-distance hiking ecosystem. Traditionally, these kind humans are known to set up along the trail. No matter if it’s wisdom, water, or snacks, trail angels send hikers on their way with a necessary dose of encouragement. With the internet, trail angels are now able to express their support in ways that aren’t location dependent.
